As always I am excited to present to you Akari's next steps in the development process! For the month of February, their has been drastic changes made to improve the quality of the game play while maintaining the style and aesthetic that Akari had in the past.
In regards to the list of accomplished tasks from January, I am happy to say that D-pad support, Frame delay fixes and in-game collisions/hit boxes has been corrected to meet a overall better standard. Their are also new level design plans being established to help build the world and present an array of new adventures! However, in doing so we have come to the conclusion, that for Akari's game play to improve that 2-D sprite work would have to change or be eliminated as it was conflicting with in-game mechanics and the overall time of production. We hope by doing so, it will present a brighter future moving forward and maintain the heart and love poured into this project from everyone that has supported Akari!
Out of the analysis given at the Magfest Indie Game Showcase, we've heard your amazing advice loud and clear! Akari will now be utilizing a fully cel-shaded 3-D model to match the aesthetic of the world around her and open the door for better player interactions than ever before without dismantling the original games levels or design! Here's what's in store going forward!
The following update list for February 2018 includes:
Crouch mechanic -Game pad Face button left to crouch below enemy fire
Akari 3-D integration-Face Modifier enhancements
Enhanced Combo/Ribbon System- 4 hit combo system
Jump through platforms- Movement options for level design
Updated Lighting System- Level upgraded with platform lighting
